Sketches about health and falling.

My buddy is in nursing and she had a project aimed at educating seniors on prevention of and recovery from falls.  I drew some panels / slides and I had some room to play and these are the ones I like.

Iron Warriors champion

Trying to do a bit of an orange glow off to the left but I am still figuring out the blending of these nifty watercolours.  Trickier than normal to get reflective looking surfaces.

I kinda of just have first and final stages.  Super rough sketch, just blocking in some shapes and getting the pose - silhouette.  I didn't do thumbnails but I was sketching so lightly at this point I just tried out multiple arm / leg poses and stuff and it erased away. Also leaning heavily on reference from some up-close pictures of the miniatures.

Nurgle's chosen.

So same theme, this is my buddy as a Death Guard plague marine from 40k.  Super gross.

My friend Ian as an Ultramarines Librarian

Started with about 45 minutes of sketching, ending up with what you see here.  Figuring out the pose and getting all my reference in front of me.  Then I inked it with a 0.5 marker and erased away the sketchy bits. I was doing this on watercolour paper so I could bring in my watercolour pencils - have to start lightly with the base highlight colours, then when everything is figured out bringing in the mid-tones and some shadow (a little black goes a LONG way) and bringing in just a bit of water to smooth the colours together and get rind of the white "noise" of the paper (looks OK in person but a scan usually picks up on the contrast too much), then a final pass to fill in / even out the colours and some final touches with a brush-pen to keep the lines popping out and make sure the important details read (the thin lines from the fine-tip marker kinda got lost against the deep blue).

I really like how this one turned out!

Hussar on her raptor mount.

Probably a Utahraptor, if  you want to get specific.  One of the big ones, anyways.
